Nikia Cruse joined SMCIL’s Board of Directors in August of 2024. Ms. Cruse has spent over 25 years as a government contractor currently serving as a Cybersecurity specialist, working to protect government data and Information technology assets. Ms. Cruse is currently serving in her second term as President of The Bracey Estates Homeowners Association and has experience as a Realtor and life licensed person. All of these experiences share a common theme, serving others. But the most significant and rewarding role qualifying Ms. Cruse as a member of SMCIL’s Board, comes from her experience as the mother of Aiden, her 13 year old son. Aiden was born with physical disabilities due to a rare genetic syndrome called Warburg Micro Syndrome. As a parent of a child who requires the assistance of others for his care and to perform day to day activities, Ms. Cruse understands the challenges that families and individuals can face with identifying resources and support. As a result of these firsthand life experiences, Ms. Cruse has developed a passion for advocating on behalf of this underserved community to help promote quality of life.
